My old RS really does have crap brakes! I last owned an RS back in the late 80's, and other than my last SRX which I got rid of a while ago, I have not ridden anything 'old' for well, since when brakes were supposed to be errr.. crap!
The rear brake is good reallly, thank God, but the front just wont stop the bloody thing (hardly!)
I have replaced the pads, cleaned the caliper, changed the oil, put braided hoses on, which gave a little improvement, but I am sure they were better than this when I owned RS's in the past, and this is my sixth one so I should know them by now!
Perhaps I have been spoilt by my last few modern bikes I don't know, but if anyone has found a decent replacement system that bolts on the bike without too much fuss, would you be kind enough to let me know.!
On the other hand, the bike cost me £160 with tax and MOT. It takes me 30 miles a day much of which is at full tilt. tyres etc are so cheap it is laughable, and it really does give me a cheap thrill.
I intend to do a custom job on it later,or maybe a cafe racer or flat track job, who knows, so if anyone has any such race bits etc lying around let me know too.
Ride safe.
