I'm sure someone will be able to advise on the seat, for longer runs I've heard of using a bit of sheepskin rug (Boyd?) or a good standby is of cycling shorts / underwear nder your normal bike gear  ;)

Welcome ,Tony .Can I suggest copious amounts of beer and curry to increase your own personal seat base .More fun than draping the skin from a deceased animal over your bike .

Failing that ,anyone used a 'gel' seat cover?

Rob .

Tony - the NX seat gets extremely plank-like after about 50 miles - shuffling back to the pillion bit gets some relief, but still ..... I've got a wee bit of sheepskin (rough 10" offcut from a craft shop - pennies) that helps quite a bit, but just gets soggy when it rains, destroys yer hard man image and provokes unnecessarily crude comments about sheep.  If you can handle the pi$$taking, then it's a way to go .... alternatively:

I've just ordered a new seat cover for Arfur the XBR (WEMoto £22) and a gel pad from DanMedicaSouth, to be cut into the foam during the recovering exercise.  The XBR's not as bad as Miss Whiplash, but could do with some improvement in the buttock-cosseting department - gets a bit tender after 100 or so miles.

Will report back with updates, photos & ride reports on successful completion.

Have used an old sheepskin many times and it makes a real difference - mind can also be a little warm in the summer.  Then when you get to the camp site you have a nice comfy pillow, rug for cocktails etc.

I bought a gel seat for mine. But I find it best to sit back to the the midway point for best comfort. The thing that drives me mad is the wind. Just spent ages making different screen but its no better.
