Leaking fuel taps - help!
« on: March 04, 2008, 10:00:14 PM »
My SRX has started to be sick out of one of the carb overflows when the bike is not running.  :(  It's OK when I'm on the move; no puking.

Is the vacuum tap on an SRX400E the same as the ones on RD350, TZR250, SRX600 etc? It looks the same to me.

Also, is the tap underneath the tank the same on these bikes?

Both of my taps let petrol leach past even when they are off! If I can fix those, then I can ignore the fact that the carbs sometimes overfill and make the bike sick  ;)

That damned rust particle soup that used to swim in my tank has caused no end of damage.  >:(

These guys will do a rebuild kit for the vacuum tap, apparently there are two types, they can be indentified by the shape of the vacuum diaphragm housing, it would be an idea to check it before phoning them. Not sure about the tap under the tank.

Hi Steve,

Which guys? There was no link in your message!!

I have become a bit stranded now as it leaked just under a half gallon overnight into my container so its gone horribly wrong.  :(   Not riding it for the moment as it could prove a tad dangerous......
