Weekend debrief
« on: September 10, 2006, 08:48:32 PM »
Completely failed to earn any money this weekend. On Saturday I had a crack at a small roof job (repairing the cement work around a flue), but the stack was too tall to reach from my roof ladder so I gave up on it. Then I went to do a quote on a job and they'd gone out. Piss.

Today I went off to my albatross of a bathroom job and did few (unpaid) hours. The end is in sight now.

I have so far completely failed to make time to sort out the frame for my sidecar outfit so I'm still using the Land Rover at 14mpg.

On the plus side I sold two tents on Ebay, and I was pleased to get £112 for my Vango force ten. I know I was all excited about getting it earlier this year, but we need a new family tent and the Vango is the only one I own that's worth anything, so wifey made me sell it. Bloody good price though :-)

Another plus is that I've been too busy to think about the guys having fun at the Dutch rally. Jammy dodgers.

Cheers
GC

Spent all weekend under my Landy.
Welding on a new out-rigger and some more patches on the chassis !!!!
As opposed to tidiing up my outfit so that I can sell it.

Nothing bikey at all (except Dolly's weekly wash of course). Instead I spent Saturday 'bonding' with the boys at an all day fishing trip (hooray!), and Sunday under orders from Brown Owl to sort out the garden (boo!).

Went to Sandiacre (about 10 miles from me) on Sunday morning to drop off merchandise to a new member - Angus Negus (wonder if any relation to Arthur?). Got there about 9.30am but didn't ring bell as it looked as if everyone was in bed!

Sunday afternoon finished stripping the XTZ in order to do the 'tappets'. Nothing too difficult by why is everything so problematic to get at? My 12mm spark plug spanner, that perfectly fitted the XT600, was a few mm to long, so out with the hacksaw. Also, very similar to Haynes/Clymer manuals, the official Yamaha workshop manual was very misleading in how 'easy' it all was. So now after almost having to remove the engine the clattering noise should be a thing of the past. All I need to do now is put all the ancillaries back on, wondering of course where the two odd bolts and a washer came from, and it should be a good for another few miles.

Went to Dartmoor for the BMW GS Princetown meet. Terry Lee (he of the Honda CL and Dakar F650) was there as planned but Colin Hilliard couldn't make it because of a broken ankle sustained on the latest of his work-related forays abroad (Italy). All in all a good weekend - lovely weather, decent roads and excellent beer but bloody expensive!!! Will deffo camp next year.
