Exhaust sealant

I need to resort to some sort of sealant for the joints on my Skorpion's exhaust can anyone recommend one that is flexible and isn't a complete pain in the proverbial when removing?

Ive always used silcone bathroon sealant. It was recommended to me by Gazelle in West Wales, after they built a system for me (a long time ago)

Ta, I have some heat resistant stuff - looks and smells right - I'll try that. When I get around to taking the system off again

I use this on pipes...  Its ok, doesn't last forever, but will get you thru an MOT (and scrutineering)

No complaints with it tho.

Will any old silicon sealant do the trick or do you have to specifically use heat resistant stuff? I've got a predator on my XBR and every few months the paste falls out and I have to redo it. Being essentially bone idle, this is not ideal for me and I'm looking for something that'll last a little longer. Is Fire Gum any better than other pastes? I've tried a few with the same results.

The stuff I used wasn't specifically heat resistant, but it was "heavy duty".  Took about 24h to go off.  Applies white, goes clear when dry.  Also good for sealing switchgear!!

Give it a bash- at worst it will burn/melt off.  May mark the pipe, but will proabbly polish out/off.  Just dont slather it on too copiously!

So long as you don't want it to look pretty, I some times use Firegum or suchlike & then wrap the joint with a bit of exhaust bandage followed by locking wire which keeps the gum in place a lot longer!

Failing that!      I just have the whole system welded together & forget about it for a long long time! ;)
