C Spanner for SZR660 rear suspension

Hi guys,

Does anyone have a C spanner that will fit the SZR rear suspension collets that they want to sell on? I didn't get one with the bike and it looks like the previous numpty has wound the preload to the max, back end feels solid. Beer tokens waiting.

Aye Mavm

Will the 'C' spanner used for push bike bottom bearings on the pedal crank fit with a bit of 'cut and shut' and maybe an extension for leverage?

Also does your local Honda dealer have any left over 'C' spanners for adjusting VFR chain tension?

Just a couple of ideas from an overactive grey cell!

Regards, Bill

Cheers Bill, I'll check out the push bike ones. Looking at adjustable ones on Ebay and they're like £30!!

Aye Mav,

If all else fails find some 5mm plate from the dump or an offcut from an engineers and using the time honoured hacksaw and file method, make one. That is how I got a 'C' spanner for adjusting the Bros chain!

My regards and I hope the lullabies are still going well for your wife and wee fella.

Bill,

Cheers mate - the little fella is doing good, showing a healthy prediliction for boobs - he's his daddy's boy! He was so good today that I got time off to collect my newly re-covered seat for the SZR and put the rear wheel back in, complete with new Pirelli Dragon Evo which was a £50 Ebay bargain. Took it into National Tyres who fitted it but couldn't balance it. As they couldn't balance it (same make/size tyre was already on the rim and balanced when I took it in) they decided not to charge me anything - cool!

Wheel in, and a quick 40 miles of roundabouts to scrub the tyre in, then back home and on the paddock stand to lube the chain and change the oil and that's all for now. Still trying to get an exhaust hanger made - don't light engineering companies want the work? Not in my experience! Mrs Mav says hi and thanks for the best wishes.

I've recently had 2 bike shops try to tell me that tyres don't need to be balanced these days. Last time I had a BT45 fitted I balanced it myself and needed about 4 inches of stick on weights. I'm hoping that this will improve the abysmal back tyre life (about 3000 miles) and uneven wear (still 4mm left on 3/4 of the circumference last time) I've been putting up with for the last few years (I'd assumed that the bike shop I've been using since 2000 had been balancing them - not so).

I bent a push bike spanner a bit more so it fits my SRX shocks. I'd guess you could similarly straighten one a bit to do a monoshock.

I know a couple of really good guys who've helped me out with wee bits for the racer.  Not much use unless you're in North London tho?!  If you want, let me know, I'll give you details?

Cheers for now

Cheers Andy, but the guys at Quill have come up trumps again, they'll change the link pipe so that the can is higher and closer to the bike and knock up a new hanger out of stainless. More bl**dy money!!
