I think that is very nice, but if I were in the market for a new bike I would go for the RE Hunter. Better spares back uo and cheaper.

Although not a retro the Honda CB300R is another option often overlooked - nice and light at less than 150kg (apparently) and goes well enough although a test ride is always recommended to confirm if it floats your boat. RonXBR had one for a while and he was good enough to let me have a quick spin on it. 80-90mpg too, more even without too much effort.

I didn’t realise Honda did the 300r. Nice looking bike, a tad “modern” looking but hey I could get down with the yoofs and grow to like it. Made me think of my KTM390 duke. Which I still regret selling. It was a cracking, light little bike, perfect for getting me back in the saddle after my accident. Especially given the fact I sold to fund .........the CCM ??.

Totally agree, and they look as good in the flesh as in photos. They are pretty tiny. I don't know what the basis is but I assume a generic Chinese machine - maybe it would be possble to do an engine transplant or maybe even mod a 250 model with an Ajay's cosmetics.

They are acceptable in the AJS & Matchless owners' club.....

Now Ian, that's something to ponder, which engine to transplant into a New AJS?
Electric start Serow springs to mind, but it seems a shame to spoil a Serow, any other suggestions for a suitable donor engine?
I have a couple of spare CB250 RS lumps, in truth they are a bit too big and heavy, I once offered one up to an XL185 whilst I had it's engine out, just would not go in without extending the frame.
