Thumpers at Pugh auction
« on: November 16, 2022, 12:02:09 PM »
Just having a browse through and lots of tasty projects etc. Including an XBR500 a similar colour to mine. It will be interesting to see what it fetches. My guess is £1,500 - £2,000 based on the photo.

Always plenty of interesting stuff at their sales although I'm sure I've seen a lot of these before. It's a 2 day sale with the Saturday mostly spares etc.

Rufus search out the Hitchcocks Motorcycles video of their latest haul of bikes and spares. They have brought over from the States hundreds of bikes and 50 tons of spares, mostly British. It is mind boggling to see the number of bikes, frames, wheels etc they have piled up in their vast warehouse.

Ian, you are right I do know I want to, sadly my wife also knows she doesn't want to and being a good husband (read scared) I defer to her wishes. Sorry what's that dear? New shower base and surround? Why certainly. No I wasn't looking at bikes again. Slightly unfair for comedic effect as my wife is a fabulous woman really.

I did indeed. As a former, long-term JAWA/CZ owner and member of the Owners Club I still have a longing for another one. They do crop up occasionally, but seem to attract inflated prices, as do most things. I paid £199 for my model 485, 250cc single, brand new in 1982. I only paid £399 for my JAWA 634 350cc brand new in 1976. Shame I didn't hang on to some of the 15 or so JAWA/CZs I owned. Or the 1952 BSA Golden Flash, or the 1984 XBR 500, or the 1984 BMW K100, or the ...........

I've never had a new bike, preferring to let other people take the first year depreciation hit. The nearest I came was a year old Triumph Tiger 955i I bought in 2005 for about £2,000 under the new price. It was a lovely bike especially when I'd sorted out some of the errors the supplying dealer had made.

I love the fact that he has put 'this bike is spares or repairs' no shit Sherlock. Actually if I had a bit more time I would probably put in a bid on that as it doesn't look to be a disaster. Hmmm food for thought.

Just had a look at some of the Pugh results - it looks as though the XBR didn't sell. Interesting variation in prices - a prewar cammy Velo looked cheap at just of £7,000 but quite a lot of high-ish prices for an auction.

Michael is a wise man for sure. Hilary used to be a police woman in Lincolnshire in the 70s and still remembers how to put me in an arm lock! I won't mention handcuffs as this is a family site.

I agree I do need an XBR 500 though so I will keep working on that one.
