Crankcase oil quantity XBR500
« on: November 06, 2022, 04:17:18 PM »
When I drained the oil from the tank and crankcase of the XBR I was surprised to find quite a lot came out of the crankcase. I was expecting only 100cc or so but it was way more than half a litre - about the same as came out of the oil tank. If it had been my Norton I would have put this down to wet sumping. Does the Honda engine suffer from this? I must admit I haven't studied the oil circulation carefully.

We're an odd lot with the worrying thing. I started worrying about the rattling, oil burning Might Midget 20,000 miles ago and it is still running strong!

My GN rattled every day of the 30,000 odd miles I owned it! Drank so much oil that I never actually changed it as I was changing it every few months with top up's! ....never let me down though.
