Well, after nearly five years of faithful service, I sold the Jawa, and for more than I paid for it too! I've replaced it with this 2016 Suzuki Inazuma 250 with 1500 miles on the clock and a full service history. Yes, somebody paid to have it serviced every year even when it was hardly being used! Cruises easily at 70 on the motorway with plenty more to come and seems very comfortable too. Bit of a bargain at £1950 I thought, so feeling pretty chuffed 😊

Is that both Jawas you've sold? Can't keep up I'm afraid......

That looks like a bargain but not my style.

Yes, both Jawa's gone now Ian. If only I could get some 2T scented aftershave...

Looks a real gem Pete. I have looked at them very often and thought how good. I don't think it's a very stressed engine so should last you a !good long time. Well done you

Hi Pete

I too have looked at the Inazuma as a sensible bike, which is probably why I haven't got one; I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack after all. I have spoken to a lot of old boys who have them and they all love them. Happy miles and let us know how you go with it.

Thanks for all the best wishes guys. Sadly, I think I qualify as one of the old boys now Ian! 😂

Sweet enough! How about a first ride report?

It went well enough on the 50 mile ride home. It held 70 on the short stretch of Mway I did, with what seemed like plenty more to come, handled well round the back lanes and B roads I prefer, and was very comfortable too. Seems like its a really flexible engine too, pulling away from just over tickover in all gears. I'll be changing the oil and filter, checking the coolant and generally giving it the once over before I venture out again though!

So do you think you'll continue with the 125?

Yep, the 125 is a great B road and country lane bike and returns at least 170mpg. I've only filled it up three times, and I've owned it since March...

Pete it sounds to me that you have got the perfect stable of bikes there to meet your needs, well done. It's great to hear someone be so positive about smaller bikes too. I enjoyed my big bikes and occasionally lust after something with a bit more power than the Mighty Midget, but in these cash-strapped times of ever increasing petrol prices, not to mention everything else, a small bike can be a load of fun and not cost a fortune.

Thanks, Ian. I've had far, far more 250's and under than any other kind of bikes. In fact, I think I've only ever had 5 bikes larger than 350 out of the maybe 30 to 40 bikes I've owned over the years. 250's have always been the right balance of performance and economy to me, for solo riding at least. Plus, they were dirt cheap when I started riding because the 125 learner law had just come in and nobody wanted 250's!

125's are a fun ride too, because they are definitely under powered, but tend to handle really well because they are so light. The fun is to try and keep your momentum going as much as possible by charging hills, and cornering as quickly as possible.  :)

Bloody hooligan!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's when the front wheel drifts that you know that maybe the wee tyres are being asked a "bit much"!  ;)

Keep charging, Bill
