me!

why?  Z'it crap??!  Mine is ok....

And I'll look for that airbox, but think I may have (uncharacteristically) binned it after it sat about outside my flat for about a year, then offering it for free to folk here, on MZOG  etc.  There were no takers at the time...

But I'll have a mooch about in the garage n loft & see whats about

It's bloody fantastic!! No spitting and coughing on over run which was my worry now that I had sorted her out with the OME silencer. I swear there are a few more gee gees going begging and the motor, dare I say seems more flexible. The sound is the cream on the cake - finally it sounds like a real bike with just a touch of menace. It just encourages me to behave badly - I love it!

Many many thanks for the tip off Andy - brilliant.

Steffan,

Why do you want an air box ?
Fit a pair of K&Ns with a couple of mm trimmed off the sides ,air being sucked in adds to the sound /enjoyment !
If you want to try the full volume ,I have a Renegade race can you could borrow / have. :)

Mine's about to have a Blue flame can fitted when time allows and I've practiced my stainless steel welding .

Eventually I might change over to MIKUNI carbs and that requires mods to the carb. All Renegades are race cans the road legal ones are fitted with a Db killer baffle. Which is why there is a stamp on the baffle but not on the can. Apart from a bit of mesh you can see right through mine anyway.

Cheers

Hey!

Glad your happy!

I'd like a pair of Keihin flatslide FCRs (please, Santa?!!). Have already got K&N-a-like clamp on pod filters, they were much better than the airbox with the renegade can.  Mine has had a bit of gas flow done & hi comp piston, but still standard carbs with DynoJet kit.

And maybe (dunno here at all), your increase in performance is perceived rather than real??  Agreed the noise will be a lot nicer, but this may just be increasing enjoyment of the motorcycle...

Well perhaps, but on the left hander over the stone bridge at the bottom of my hill she is happier going around than she used to be. No, there may not be any more real power if you had measured it but the engine sounds and feels happier.

Coming out of Aber on the north road I closed the throttle and let the engine take over down the hill and for all the world she was a doodlebug . That sort of roaring with the boom behind - did I laugh.

Dose it have "not for road use" stamped on the can ?
If all they require to be legal is a stamped Db killer I'll fit one to the traveller........

The Blue Flame has more bass than the Renegade .

Both of my Renegades have not for road use on ,
It's very faint on one of them might try to remove it completely and get a stamped baffle then see what the MOT-er thinks.

Blue flame can is all most fitted I don't think there is much difference between it and the Renegade ........

Remember it is not ht e absence of a BS or E mark that makes the pipe illegal on the road but the presence of "Not for Road Use", or., "For Off Road Use Only".  Friends Bonnie (Hinkley) has just passed because of this - his nice chrome meggas all the way from the States are unstamped and thus fine for the MOT.  Was in MCN some time ago.  Chopper had a word with the MOT station before he went, and they confirmed that a totally plain (unstamped) pipe does not contrevene the letter of the test - though it probably rides a horse and cart through the spirit.

As I said before,I had a Renegade,K&N,DynoJet and geared up CB500.

At 60mph constant throttle it sounded like a Doodle Bug.
So I didnt keep it at a constant 60....;-)
Usually a bit quicker.

So if a chap wanted to get his bike dyno tested where might one find a reputable establishment?
