DR Clutch- weekend prebrief!
« on: September 28, 2007, 09:45:10 AM »
Hi all, any advice?

The DR clutch has begin to slip a bit, only with a big handful, but still...

I think its a new clutch about 4000 miles ago, the previous owner (a mate) put it in.  I read the Suzi manual last night, and it looks like pretty straightforward wet multiplate clutch.

Any insight?  Do they have a reputation for being a bit weak?  I've had clutch slip before when using car oil, but but its good bike oil this time...

So I will go and investigate, but suspect maybe a spring has broken, or the plate-retaining bolts have started to unwind.

Must do an oilchange soon as well...!

cheers

a

Andy, the 750 clutch is similiar (uses the same plates I think), fairly standard to work on. Mine was slipping to start with, turned out to be a sticky clutch cable not returning properly. Works fine now after sorting the cable. Worth checking as you tend to get used to a cable slowly getting stiffer and may not have realised how bad it is.
