Boyd RIP 10/12/2018
« on: December 10, 2018, 09:13:08 PM »
Martyn Peters has asked me to post this sad news here.

'Good evening everyone,
It is with sadness that I have to announce that our good friend, and club stalwart from the early days of the club, Boyd, died this afternoon at 1730. He had been fighting a tough battle with prostate cancer, which was discovered too late.
I shall publish the arrangements for his funeral when I know them.
Cath, Boyd's widow, has asked me to sell his bike. It is a Yamaha MT-03 660. I have yet to ascertain age, condition and value. If anyone on here is interested, I will get the details and make them known here.
I tried to put this on the club website but could not log on, due to forgetting my log in details.
OK all you old men, get your prostates checked!'

Another one taken far too soon. Easy to talk with, and listen to. Real good bloke.

My condolences to Cath and Boyd's family and friends. I am very sorry to read of his passing, having had the craic many moons ago at Stafford with Boyd, when Kat and I enjoyed the hospitality of the TC; then on the TC forum. A gentleman, with a ready wit, smile and welcome for strangers, rest without pain, you won't be forgotten.

My thoughts go to his family and Cath. Only met him once but he seemed typical of Thumper Club members, nice bloke, knowledgable and really enthusiastic about his biking.

Sad to lose good people, the world needs them.

So very sorry to hear this. It was so lovely to meet him again in Wales this summer after many years. A real gentleman, part of great memories since the earliest Thumper Club and SRX Connection rallies. My condolences to Cath and family. Rest in peace my friend.

Sad news indeed, I'm glad we met him again, when he turned up at the TC Club rally in Wales this year....unfortunately for the last time.

Terrible news  :(. I only met Boyd a couple of times, but came over as a top man. Condolences to the family - I can only imagine what their Christmas will be like.  :(

Like everyone who met him, i am deeply saddened by this news. Boyd was a hell of a guy. A real gentleman who always had time for everyone and anyone. It was great to see him in Derbyshire in July and even greater that he made it to the rally at the Red Lion in Wales. My heartfelt condolences go out to all his family and friends.
Most of us are now of a certain age, so dont put it off. go and get your prostate checked now, and every year after.

Many thanks for that Steve H.

I cannot even think of the amount of meets, fun and booze that Boydy and the crew have managed over the years.
It was a real treat for him to make the Annual meet this year and a reality check to understand how poorly he was.

I will miss you friend RIP. My condolenses to Cath and faamily.
