Might be of interest for those of you who were at the recent NEC show, some more comments from Nathan about his R E Himalayan :-
"My bike's finally back from the shippers after its trip across the US. Noticed the head bearings have gone notchy again so I'm going to look to see if I can drop and grease them myself rather than relying on the dealer. Also due a valve check, oil and filter and a few other service items. She looks pretty beat up but at 16,000 miles I've had no big issues.
This last week I was on a trade stand at the big UK bike event at the NEC. I had a borrowed Himalayan on the stand and then mine towards the end. The bike got a lot of interest. A lot of people were just wanting that final nudge to make the decision. I was meant to be selling tours but spent most of the time talking Himalayan. I met a lot of owners, pretty much all of which were universally happy. There was one guy waiting on a head gasket to replace the one that had failed. One had a bearing in the engine collapse and had to replace that. Another complained of a roughness above 4000rpm which his dealer had said was normal. We agreed he needed to try another dealer. One other lad went on a test ride and the throttle cable snapped, which seems to be semi-common. Everyone seemed positive though and in the age of £20,000 GS 1200s many could see the appeal in a £4000 Himalayan. It just seems that they need to work on their parts supply as the head gasket had been on order four weeks already"
