I've bought a new thumper
« on: February 05, 2018, 07:39:58 PM »
Hi Guys

After 2 months of chasing around electrical issues with my F650 it presented with total electrical failure today and after checking fuses etc it has me baffled.

So I've bought a 2016 EFI Bullet in black and chrome which is being delivered next week. I'm very excited as I've wanted another RE for a long while. It does mean I will miss the Dragon Rally as I will have no bike running for the weekend but hey ho that's the price to be paid for running an old bike.

If anyone wants to collect two tickets for the Dragon from Huthwaite in North Notts you can have them for free.

Sad to hear about the Funduro Ian, but every cloud has a silver lining  :D. I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the EFI, it's a possible future purchase for me too.

Ha ha yes it is or it was the push I needed to finally make the decision to actually buy an Enfield.

Thanks Tim and I too will miss the Dragon but should see you at Shepherds Rest.

Cheers Pete I'll keep you informed. How's things with you?

Welcome to the club 😁

The manual I made is here if its useful

Have a *****y good look at the rivet heads on the chain, mine snapped but with hind sight a ten minute inspection would have spotted the shallow heads.

Shout if you need info on anything.

You'll love it 👍

Many thanks Andy I appreciate the offer of help. I am really looking forward to the Enfield and don't imagine it will disappoint.

OK Thanks Ian. We're through the worst of it I think. Funeral was last week, and the house has been cleared ready to go on the market.

How about meeting up at the end of the month or early March to finalise plans for the Shepherds Rest weekend? I too may have sold the F650 by then as I rationalise my stable prior to retirement in the summer....

Hi Pete

Glad to hear that things are going as well as they can. Definitely up for a meeting at the end of Feb/Beginning of March. Somewhere in the middle where we can get a cuppa while we natter maybe.

Hope selling the F650 goes well. I'm going to clean mine up a bit before I sell it but it will be away by summer.

Well, good for me but not for my visit to Shepherds Rest. I mentioned when this event was first put up on the board that it is being held over the weekend of my 60th birthday. I visited my son today who told me to keep that weekend free as there is a family surprise being planned for me. So massive apologies Pete and Timbo but I won't be there.

I hope this isn't going to be the year I almost got to places!

No worries Ian, family always comes first in these situations, or should do IMHO. Hopefully catch up at the summer camp, or if you just fancy meeting up for a day out somewhere 'half way' once the weather has warmed up let me know. We could even get some other thumpsters to come along too maybe...

Not a problem Ian. Just as well your son tipped you off, or you could seriously have been in the poo with your family 😉

Thanks fellas sorry I won't be there. My family know I don't like parties so as most of my children are car fanatics I'm hoping for a classic car related treat. Maybe a track day? Probably a meal out! Either way it will be lovely to be with them.

Pete we will certainly have to meet up when the weather is a little better and as you say hopefully be joined by some other thumpeteers.
