Skorpion
« on: January 13, 2018, 01:14:59 PM »
OK, the CB250rs was nice but too expensive and possibly wouldn`t handle a thrashing over the mountain daily?

The other RS was a basket case, and to expensive.

The BMW F650CS sounds like it could be hassle with corrosion, water pump, etc.

So, tomorrow I`m looking at another Skorpion. I loved my last one, Skorpion Sport, but the riding position didn`t suit me to well, so I`m having a look at a Traveller this time. looking at the pictures it looks nice (IMHO) so fingers crossed I`ll have a thumper on the road soon ;-)

Picture of bike attached (I think?)

That looks really nice, I always thought the 660 would be a lovely motor and it looks very useable in that chassis package.

Isn't it interesting how we can be influenced by what we read? I have to admit that if I had only read what was on this forum about the CS 650 I too would have shied away from it. However having owned 3 F650s, which use the same motor, and having loved them all and had no real problems I would be happy with a CS. Perhaps I have just been lucky or maybe I just haven't had these problems yet, either way I suppose we just have to trust our instincts.

Good luck with the Skorpion I hope it's what you want.

Hi Ian.

I like the look of the f650 very much and it may be a better bike than the MZ? I know some of the MZ parts are "odd ball" items, and can be hard to get hold of (I`m sure the BMW isn`t like that) but like you, having already owned an MZ  and loved it, I`m swayed to stay with what I know. You got me thinking again now????:-\ :-\

Thanks, Steve.

PS. Cheers Michael, will do  ;)

Welcome back to the world of MZery.

The Skorpion really is fun, I hope riding the position suits you.

Cheers Richard. I`m sure it will suit me this time. At least there`s room to change the bars if need be? On the Sport I had, the bracketry for the fairing hampered any change of bars (except for BMW clip-on thingy`s I believe?)

Aye Steve,

Congratulations! I hope you have many happy hours aboard.

On the question of handlebars, you may find this 'blog' worth a look: Skorpion_handlebar_mods

Wait until the forecast snow for this week passes afore attempting Mannin's cloak!  ;)

My regards, Bill

Simply swapping and reversing mine put them in just the right position for me, but we are all different.

To be fair many modern BMWs are exceptionally adjustable in terms of riding position and an R1100S suited me perfectly.

Now go ride it like a two stroke !

Excellent, welcome back to MZ's. I have two at the moment - an ETZ150 and a SilverStar 500. I'm really interested to see how you get on with the Scorp, in particular the riding position. Hope you'll report back. Grahams are the people for spares, but I guess you already know that....

Hi CrazyFrog.

I loved my Skorpion Sport, I thought it was a great bike, it was just the riding position for me. The Traveller should sort that for me but yeah, I`ll keep you posted. Cheers  ;)

Good choice Steve, it is important to be happy with a new bike isn't it and past history with that make is a big factor. I wish you mant happy miles of MZing with your new acquisition.
