What to do ???
« on: August 17, 2017, 08:40:34 PM »
I have kind of dropped myself in the proverbial ,A couple of weeks ago I went to look at a 2016 Royal Enfield in Lagoon Blue (eBay no 253053269744),And to be honest I can't stop thinking about it,I seem to be spending an awful lot of time on youtube looking at videos of the bloody things even ones in hindi etc (just a little hard to understand  ;D).The problem I am having is .. am I going to regret buying it as it will mean I will have 2 x 500 singles (when I get the Harris Matchless done). Are they going to be too similar. As I would be trading my Bonneville in will I be happy thumping everywhere at a slower pace,I do seem to have eased up on the old throttle a bit now,But I do like my Bonnie,But it's feeling like time for a change, ARGGH am I going round the bend. :o
Soooo .... has anyone got or had this model and what are they like long term,Is the paint etc.up to our winters (with a bit of care obviously)
Any advice would be great,Ta very muchly Steve P.

I'm biased, as I'm an RE fan. If my MZ Silver Star is anything to go by, your Matchless Rotax should be plenty quick enough, though neither it or the EFI are motorway mile munchers really.

I avoid dual carriageways and motorways as much as possible on the Bonneville Tim,So no problem there,Are these newer unit engines a safe bet or are the cranks etc. a worry,I have read so much conflicting advice on the internet that I don't know what to think  :-[

I know, or have met plenty of EFI owners, and only heard good stuff, so I wouldn't worry  ;)

Having recently gone down a similar route, and opting for the honda vigor- you will miss the extra grunt. just keepnig up with traffic and out of harm's way is getting annoying. There is nothing worse than having your progress impeded by some clown in a souped up family tin can blasting down straights at 90 mph and then catching them at the next corner at walking speed. Keep the Bonnie......

You sound likeyou "need" to get the RE.
If you can afford, get it....
...put off the decision to get rid of the Bonnie until the H Matchless is on the road (when you'll know if the two singles are really different for you), or until you decide the RE ain't punchy enough and you need to keep the Bonnie, in which case you sell the RE when the HM is ready.

PUT IT OFF! I say when it comes to selling, you will know when the time is right, or when you find you only wheel a bike out to get to the other bikes ;)

First world problems eh?  Enjoy!

Thanks fellas...I think  ;)
To get the Enfield I would have to trade in the Bonnie as I am only on short hours and money is tight,This would mean the Matchless will take a lot longer to get done........sooo....after great and painful deliberation I think I will hang up my helmet for the winter now and sell the Bonnie    :o I hope I am doing the right thing as I have had some great times on it  :'( :'( :'(,As I have no finance on the Bonnie this should release plenty of cash for me to finish the Matchless,Then if the Matchless isn't what I was hoping for it should give me a reasonable return when I sell it.....BUT I can't see me not liking it so why stress ehh  :-\ then if there is any cash left over it can go towards an Enfield     SIMPLES  ???

My C5 is my only bike. I wouldn't want to go back to the commute with it as my only means of transport but it ticks every other box. It will cruise at 60 BTW, so motorways are possible if you need to.
