One of the things that ticks me off about old bikes is when the riders wear modern riding gear. I saw a lot of this at Stafford last weekend.

A 50s Triumph demands a pudding basin lid

A 70s BMW demands a shiny Rukka jacket

An 80s XBR demands stonewashed jeans and white paddock boots.

I'm right aren't I?

And if you ride an SR500 you should wear the traditional donkey jacket and, in wet weather, carrier bags over your boots

Personally I just wear different things but they're all black....is that traditional enough?? Covers all bases, doesn't really matter what I ride that way......well all except my triumph textile jacket that's blue with a red n white stripes running down one arm and up the left side of the jacket, looks traditional tho. Everything else is just black, even my lid. Plus that way I can just tell everyone that I am the "ghost rider"  :) :) :) :) :) :) :)....(you know the guy that pulls 200mph wheelies etc)

Personally, whilst riding the ETZ, I sport army boots, bright yellow yachting over trousers, a moldy old wax cotton jacket (with obligatory 2T stains), gardening gloves and an old bell full face helmet which last had a visor in 1983.

Style is always fashionable.  ;)

You are!  Here's a pic from  circa 1984 and despite my uncle's encouragement with a go on his Velo, it took me a long time to sort myself out with a single - better late than never! If memory serves, we were on our way to Club Tropicana where drinks are free  ;D

Modern gear! When did this happen and why did no one tell my waxed cotton jacket and para boots? Honestly you'll be telling me next they've invented a helmet that covers your whole face.

yamaha LC requires a paddock jacket with speedblock pattern down the sleeves, riding a katana requires a simpson bandit helmet,

GC is quite right. It's absolutely vital that man and machine are properly co-ordinated so as to put across the right image.......
'specially if you ride something like Harley......
