Bike tax ?

Thought someone on here might know , finally got round to dragging my old z550 out of my sisters garage ( sorry not a thumper) checked on Dvla website and last time it was taxed was 1990 sad I know. Anyway it was not sorned and was showing as untaxed , question is will I get fined if try to tax it ? Any ideas ?

my understanding is that if a vehicle was  last taxed before 31 January 1998 you needn`t have sorned it,  so you shouldn`t get fined for back tax,  best bet is ring the dvla, they do have real people that will talk to you, good luck

Thanks for the reply, that's put my mind at ease as did'nt want to ring Dvla and open a box of worms will have to get the old girl going now. Thanks again Mark.
