Motorcycle ride today
« on: July 06, 2013, 05:02:45 PM »
We had a really lovely motorcycle ride today, but its so hot, we had to carefully select our stopping places so we could get some relief from the sun, so the shady side of trees and bushes were favorite. If we could maintain 40mph+ it was ok, but anything less felt like we were being stewed alive. Got back home after 6 hours out and we are both knackered. Time for a beer :)

To be fair, I think that riding in hot weather can be more uncomfortable than the icy riding I've endured at the Elefant Rally. I know a bloke who rode through Death Valley and when we compared notes it was obvious that my trips at -10 were easier to deal with than his rides in unrelenting scorching sun. It's quite easy to get warm in a cold place, but much harder to get cool in a hot place.

Yes your right, Its much easier to wrap up warm, more layers heated gloves etc, but you can only strip off so far before it becomes dangerous.....or illegal. It really bugs me seeing people riding in shorts tee shirts and flop flops, but I suppose its their skin or lack of at the end of the day.
