Just registered - saying hello.

Hi to everyone. I have just registered as a member, so I am popping my head round the Thumper Club shed door to say "Hi".

I currently own and run a 1986 SRX 600, which I bought (off of eBay) because I remember having a lot of fun on the SR 500 I used to have. The SRX is easier to start, especially when warm!

The SRX is a bit 'tired', but not too bad for its age really. All the replaceable parts need replacing - everything - discs, springs front & rear, drive train, the lot. I don't think much was ever done to it in its life by way of regular maintenance or servicing. I'm not much of a mechanic, much less an engineer, but I can manage all that sort of stuff. I think.

Oh yeah, had a couple BSA C15s many moons ago. I do like Thumpers!!

Welcome to the mad house.

Don't worry much about the maintenance side, most of this lot are just about competant to put petrol in, after that you'll hear lots about sellotape and no-nails glue.

I haven't used No-nails on a bike - yet. Tie-wraps, string & duct tape - yes.

My experience of maintenance is little and often. Seems to do the trick. Along with a thorough seeing to in the winter months.

yup... that's about the sort of frequency  ... mind you...I don't seem to get that lucky!  :(

welcome..  this is a standard question of all new inmates... do you have an interest in... or own... a landrover?... any form of tilley lamp or camping stove?..  are you in Wales?

looking forward to hearing about all your disasters... we like a laugh in here  ;D

So any relation to Kirriepete? If I may be so bold? Pleased to read you've adopted an SRX, as SteveL says "we like a laugh in here  ;D" and you hopefully will find a comfy leather armchair about the place.

Welcome old chap. The S&M section of the club has been a bit lame of late. Hopefully you will bring a bit of discipline to the fold.
