Hi from a new member
« on: April 17, 2013, 05:30:08 PM »
Hi. Just thought I'd introduce myself as a new member who has just bought a 1982 Suzuki GN400. I've been biking for nearly 40 years and still ride my Kawasaki ER5 daily.

I bought the GN as I like older bikes and thumpers, having owned a few over the years. The ones I've owned in the past come in two camps. Wish I'd kept it - Honda XBR 500, Yamaha XT 500, BSA C12 and Glad to see the back of it - Royal Enfield 350 Bullet, BSA B31 and BSA C15.

I'm looking forward to seeing which camp the GN ends up in!

I had one of those once and loved it. Loads of fun if you kept the roads small and twisty. Welcome aboard matey. ;)

Hi and thanks for the welcome.

Hmmm let's see - sidecars, built my first around a CZ 250 single when my daughter was 18 months old and progressed to  '52 A10 with a D/A Briggs for her and her brother. Used to love crabbing across the road at right hand turns scaring the kids into hysterical laughter.

Petrol stoves - My mate bored out the jet on a parafin primus to create Hiroshima the stove from hell, cooked in seconds.

Landies - never had one but love them for their ruggedness.

Additionally I don't wear pants, my favourite words are hurtle and plummet and I can rant for England!

Hello Smithy,

The fact you have an opinion on any of the above suggests you will fit right in! Welcome to the mad house.

I learned to ride on a CZ 125.  Emergency stops were a challenge to say the least, but I put a fair few miles on it until I passed the test and moved on to an XJ600.
