Parts washer

I am thinking of investing in a parts washer - I was wondering what those who know think about the actual wash: solvent or non-solvent?

Just whack it in the dishwasher when she's out mate

I use Kero. (but not in the dishwasher) I have added some "other" alkaline degreaser to the kero and hope it will be compatable at about 6:1 ratio. I like to experiment.

The parts washer is the most used piece of equipment in my garage.
The 6 ton press the least.
Some of the equipment is even still in its boxes.........

I wash my parts in the bathroom sink, I just use soap and water, I can imagine solvent will smart a bit.

I use a water soluble solvent from Comma, it's easy to wash it off in warm soapy water afterwards.

ive just ordered a 10 litre ultrasonic cleaner, mainly for carbs looms small engine parts etc. having used someone elses, im staggered tha ive survived this long without one. although ive seen a plastic dustbin with a couple of orbital sanders strapped to its sides, and that was pretty spectacular in its results too!! ive a paraffin bath in the shed, its ok, but not quite powerful enough for my needs.

This could be useful too, There seems to be an abundace of high pressure hot air here sometimes.
