Living on Orkney
« on: June 29, 2012, 12:35:22 PM »
As some of you know I have been looking at moving to the Orkneys.
It has been a bit on and off but eventually I have excepted a post on Shapinsay
An island of about 300 residents but only 25 mins ferry to Kirkwall so it is not remote.
Everything is hectic and in process of selling nearly everything to afford to move.
Thanks for previous advice some of you gave. I remember the advice "you only regret what you don't do" so I went for it
Will keep you updated

Excellent.  Best of luck with the move too.

I tried finding it on satellite photography but it seems to be under a lot of cloud !

Looks great.

Thumperclub meet at Thurso?  ;D
(Wouldn't want to force some of the softer Southerners to ride *all* the way up North  ;) :P )

Good luck mate, it's a beautiful bit of country, albeit quite wild at times, I trust you like whisky and looooooong summer evenings?  :) Incidentally, how do the bees do up there? Serious question, is the wind a problem?

Grand!  ;D

You'll no have enough time to prattle away on here and 'Viking' hospitality is just fine. There are also some very nice old bits of kit and some modern stuff on some of the islands + a rally on 12th August,  ORKNEY VINTAGE CLUB,  Vintage Rally,  Kirkwall. Secretary:  Allan Way, Tel: 1856 811295 or orkneyvintageclub@yahoo.co.uk

All the very best and I hope the varroa still hasn't got there first!  Enjoy this link:

Hi Beeman, so we won't be meeting at the East Kirkby Classic Bike Show next year, as we have done over the last couple of years.
 Good luck on the move.
