How to cope without panniers?

The Wee is staying as standard as possible. It's a simple plan, you buy it, you spend the money on petrol and the time riding. If, in a year or five you change bikes, you don't end up stripping off the tons of stuff you've bought and made and fitted in order to e-bay the big stuff and dump the rubbish. I'm trying my hardest to extend this policy to my luggage. There will be no £300 rack to fit the mobile kitchen boxes. Now, while I own the sort of roll top bag that will do the sort of camping trips I need to, I'm struggling with the idea of just strapping this on. Having pannier frames to keep throwovers out of the back wheel just seems more natural.

How do you chaps get on without? Do I add 4 tanks worth of Givi metal tubes to the list of stuff I can't do without (centre stand mainly) or learn to decide between red and white before I set off?

Oxford lifetime soft panniers, they look like a copy of the old Swagman years ago.  I can't fit in quite as much as I can in the solid ones but they crash a bit better, cost a lot less and mould around the oddest shapes.

Other than the Krausers on the old and unused Beemer I can't see myself going for the rather pricey pannier options out there now.

If you want to try a set of the Oxford ones, I've got a pair you can borrow if you like.  I used them a couple of times on the SRX without any problems.

Trouble with throw-overs will be the high exhaust on the RHS, though it's not beyond the wit of man to jig up a free sitting frame to hold things off.
Wolfman make a tank bag that fits like the factory designed it. Will go on any large trailie too, so a transferable asset.

large rucksack most of the time, ive got some bright yellow throw over panniers which were great on the GPz but i have a feeling they are going to be too big for the small thumper.

I picked up a set of 'as new' Swagmans for £10 a couple of years ago, boy was I chuffed

Hepco and Becker frames will accept old style and cheap Krausers with an adapter
