It has to be the XTZ660.

Nope. The seat is a tad wider than the old XT600 and that with the extra 10mm height would make pillion use very dodgy and even be a bit of a risk in the case of needing to dab a foot while filtering (a daily chore). They are popular too judging by the lack of room for negotiation at the dealers and spending the whole budget then needing lowering links etc. cost it points in the decision matrix (I know, it's sad, I have to make lists to avoid confusing the alphabet soup of bikes that don't have names).

I'm sure I'd have made lots of interesting new friends riding in high heals though  ;D

Then it's got to be the cheap, poor quality DL650 that is favoured by short bald blokes that can't build there own. ;D

As the great motorcyclist Dick Emery would have said "Oh, you are awful, but I like you!".  ;D ::)

Don't forget I've owned Yamahas before. The soggy toilet roll and kebab wrapper exhaust construction is hardly a reason to shout about quality and I aren't bald.

But, yes indeed, hit upon a bargain, a left over unregistered DL650 V-strom Adventure X or some such silly name for the one with the metal bash plate and hand guards fitted. No ABS but a full 3-grand better on the deal than what Triumph wanted.

My visit to look at Tigers BTW was an eye opener. Nice looking bike and a great ride. The new green is horrible, people will stencil M*A*S*H on one for sure. I guess someone in Hinkley liked his Action man with wobbly eyes and rubber fingers and wanted a big bike to play with. The showroom was full of 2 year old R1200GS's and the salesmans attitude was just like you get on visit to a Fuhrer Korporation bunkers though ("They all do that SSSSSsssssssir, please wipe your feet on the way out SSSSsssssir"). The deal offered was laughable and delivery of a bike with a centre stand was quoted as "sometime in May or maybe June, SSSSSsssssssir". This, plus pictures of paint on engines used over the last winter and published responses from Triumph Warranty had the thought screaming in my head that Triumph did more than copy the looks of the F800GS since my last visit.

Went and nailed the Bonneville round the B-roads between York and Leeds, sang "Two World Wars and One World Cup" at the top of my voice to frighten the cows and went and bought a Suzuki  ;D

Karen has named the poor thing already  ::) We get "Suzi"   ::) on Friday.

Congrats Andy, hope you'll love it.

As to what strom means...

"The German word Strom usually means electric current or "Power". It as well translates to river (or figuratively stream) and also means stream of wind."
