Another silly question...

Will they take Euros on Northern Ireland?? I know it's part of the UK, but as it's so close to the Republic (attached, so don't suppose you could get closer!) Just wondered if they're accepted as well.

Pat (who thought the rally was in Ireland and now has a wallet stuffed with Euros :-[)

Hello Pat,
Getting close to 30 going to the rally. Euros are accepted at quite a few places near the border area but its best to use Sterling otherwise. By the way, Northern Ireland  has its own banknotes which are Sterling also. These include Ulster, Northern and Bank of Ireland notes which are legal tender in the UK. So don't think someones trying to pass on funny money. Any problems I'll help you to spend it.

But happy to do so whilst doing the Irish jig, or is that also only in the euro part of Ireland.

Rally information. Just like to remind everyone that the Shepherds Rest does not provide meals, but have cooking facilities on site. There will be an electric kettle with tea/coffee etc available all day. Slim's Cafe in Draperstown is open from 9.00am for breakfast at very reasonable prices. They are bike owners themselves and will give you a warm welcome. There are also a couple of pubs which do evening meals.
The run on Saturday will start from the centre of Draperstown at 10.30am. This is to allow folk to have breakfast and fill up with petrol at the station there. We are going to Irvinestown where there is a vintage bike/car/whatever show on that day. The usual route maps will be available, it's a round trip of 100 miles.
Saturday night is the T shirt contest and prizes for the best bike etc. For anyone staying for a few days a trip to the North Antrim Coast road is well worth a visit. Start from Larne and just head north. It is a full day out from Draperstown so not suitable as the TC Rally run.
Any questions/suggestions for the rally, shout them out. (Polite ones, Mark)

Can be anything really. Must be worn on the night.  Bikes, rock bands, funny, rude (not too rude), save the planet etc. T shirt with the most votes gets the prize. Myself, I'm going for a cheeky off the shoulder little number.

Rick and myself are catching the Ferry from Fishguard over to Rosslaire on the Tuesday 24th, 14:30 crossing. We will, depending on weather ride for a while and then find a camp site for the evening.

Question, do any of our Irish brethren have any recommendations for places to go, camp etc when we are over there? :o
If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!
