Is it possible to boost the engine ?
Turbo compressor ?
Arkwrights brush.
If you head over to the REOC etc. they will indeed tell you how to fit new rockers, bore it out to 565cc, fit a bigger carb, make the exhaust louder etc. The result will be a 40 HP output through a crank and bearings designed for 18 before the Indian metalurgists got to work reducing costs to meet Indian needs. So, open the whole lot, fit a new crank, better bearings, new oil lines and a cooler. Actually, save a bit of time, fit a Harley or Triumph motor. Then of course you'll find the forks flex and the head races don't want to play, so get the grinder and welding gear out. Except of course it's really a feather bed frame you want so why not just buy one. The wheels of course need matching to new tyres to gain brakes that go with the power and while you are at it you might was well paint the tank black and do a gold logo on it even it close up it says Harfield or Triton.
You are now light of many hours, many pounds, have a bike with insurance details that say 18 HP and a 40 HP motor and performance like a less reliable Thruxton or SRX. 18 HP Enfields are fun but there is IMHO no point treating them like mechano trying to get that Goldstar or Vellocette. Buy the real thing and live with classic needs, get the Enfield and enjoy the feel of real 1950's riding at 55 mph or get the modern copy and gain a mix of both worlds. If you want 180 mph get a Hayabusa.
