Known as a vanity plate for good reason?

Can also be used for nefarious purposes such as getting a Ural with the sidecar on the wrong side through the MOT as a trike and confusing the plod enough afterwards to avoid hassle (tend to be NI plates to add another layer of confusion plus they are cheaper). Also a good way to meet men in uniform by spacing it wrong.

What gets me is that the sellers seem to know so little about the vehicles. OK, someone might cough up a few quid for A4DY M or something to go on their Merc (I've more taste and no Merc but each to their own), but who's going to put a 9 grand plate on a 2 grand bike just to match the model?

cant see how a 'private plate' could get a ural through an mot as a trike since the mot system has been computerised. most bike mot stations cant do trikes, most trike mot stations dont do bikes, but aside from that, the computerised system wont allow a none symetrical three wheeler through the mot as a trike.

Talk to two of the countrys three Ural dealers, they have (or at least had, it's a couple of years since I saw one) a line in ringing that hides all the above. The NI plate is part of confusing the system.
