New EU legislation on camping stoves
« on: September 04, 2011, 08:23:34 PM »
Because proposed legislation regarding motorcycling is moving forward seemingly unopposed, the EU are now considering tackling the far more dangerous subject of cooking stoves and the use thereof.

Initial proposals include.

Registration of all users.
Compulsory theory tests for all users.
Minimum age limits for users.
Maximum age limits for users!
A stepped licencing system from gas stoves up to the more dangerous petrol stoves
Compulsory Hi Viz (Flame retardant)
Compulsory CE eye protection.
Annual MOT's on stoves including emissions checks
Random campsite checks to ensure conformity.

Further legislation will be implemented if the above goes through unopposed

Of course there will be a lengthy consultation process where your opinions and suggestions will be ignored. All facts, figures and commonsense will likewise be ignored.

Hi OZ,

Now that should draw some responses, imagine Jethro having to sit his Petrol Stove Test again, he has already had a few shaky moments during his 3 years continuous assesment for his gas stove licence.

Thats why they are proposing the tests 002, petrol heads always try to show up the gassers and then turn cooking into a race!
Next thing some poor Bar stewards cooked his goose and goes out with a bang.  Who wants goose gizzards slapped in their face?
I am still working on a woodgas burner but it looks like I need a shot of petrol to get it going.
BTW the legislators in OZ have already done the first 3 laws.. no big deal. Most local cops wouldn't know a 2 banger single from a vrf750.
I must remember to paint the airhorns on the MuZ to flat black so they can't be seen so easily.
The clothing issue is stagnant, but if those idiots in tees and shorts on cheapie chinese junk keep going the way they are it will force regs down our throats.
The going  proposed deal is that if you ride and don not have "approved" safety gear you will not be covered by the TAC funding for accident victims.
It seams that the same forkwits here in OZ are cloned with your mob...
