From 'Updated News' ( I couldn't get the site to load)

Assailant suffers injuries from fall.

"Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Ga., later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.

Outside on the sidewalk were four marines collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the marines, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.

After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported for treatment.

“The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple concussions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw … injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine.” According to a police report."

Ah but... there's a great true story from here in Cardiff of a city-centre bag thief who snatched a bag from a woman and ran off. Unfortunately for him two workman saw this and set off in pursuit. The panicked thief ran into a building followed by the men who shouted for the occupants to stop the thief. The building was the Cardiff bus office where bus crews clocked in for their shifts etc. It was full of bus drivers.

The thief emerged from this office having been hit by everyone he passed as he had run through. He ran into a lane at the rear of the office where he was finally tackled by the two chasing workman. The first two police officers at the scene apparently surveyed the situation and made the 100 yard walk along the lane in a career-slowest time.

When the police officers finally got to the thief he was found to have sustained some unfortunate injuries during his 'restraint' despite the careful actions of his two capturers  :D. He was a bit put out and complained that he needed to pay his rent (oh the sense and reason of the criminal mind eh?). He would have been more put out if he had realised at that time that he had been apprehended next to the offices of the South Wales Echo and that his incompetent actions would be a front page story under a large photo of him trapped under two angry builders (with two policeman ambling towards them in the rear of the shot).
