No more (working) thumpers

The XT has been carted off by her new owner today which leaves me thumperless I know I've got the new bike, but I'm a tad sad to see the XT go. Rose tinted specs and all that, but you knew you're riding a bike on a thumper.

Heyho, s'pose I'll have to get on and finish Abigail to feel that juddering joy of a big single pulsing away, hunting for the next apex.

alas it happens to us all i feel. was in the same boat when i took my srx off the road some years ago. rode a lot of different things since then but you always come back to what you love. in my case an xbr and of course the same srx nearly back on the road perhaps it may be just what you need to kick start (if you'll excuse the pun) the old girl and get her back on the road

Having been Thumperless since 2004, I had an interesting day yesterday. The Bonneville failed the MOT due to a leaking exhaust/corroded studs. On the basis that Triumph will have all the bits if they do need to take the head off and I want it back ASAP it's gone to the dealer in York. They lent me a Scrambler for the day. This is narrower that the Bonneville, taller, feels smaller and has the different crank set up so all the power is at 2-3000 RPM. All this makes it feel rather Thumperish and as I thrashed it round the B-roads in the sunshine made me think I'd really like one. Then I tried the A-64. Feeling like it was out of puff and likely to explode at 80 also reminded me of past Thumpers. There's nothing for it, I need a bigger garage, a couple of bike sized boxes marked up as lawnmowers to confuse the management and a serious cash injection!

'Tis true Andy, no one bike does it all. It's all about either what you will compromise on or how big your garage/wallet is. I'm sure my thumper pining will pass as I sit out of the worse of the wind and weather and trundle down the M4 at 70(ish)mph but still would be nice to have a working thumper in the garage.

I agree loverly bike to ride.
270 Crank not a problem......but the high level exhausts have such tight bends !
I think thats why its 10 Horses down on the standard 865.

I have three bikes in the shed but still find myself thinking about something trailee-esk or something petite and Italian. It's not just transport, it's an addiction. I love it!!

Non working Tenere counts as duff Thumperdom..

Non working MZery too mind, lots.  I plan on MOT ing the Frankenbeemer tomorrow, then getting around to uniting all the MZs into one tidy one sometime and a pile of useable spares.  Scrapman will do well out of it.

I have spent today ripping my hair out over the spring arrangement on the Beemer.  Also considering swapping the handlebars over to something that gives the cables a better run too.
