weekend debrief
« on: March 20, 2011, 09:44:34 PM »
Early morning op Saturday, utilised works vehicle and supplied paint cover to kitchen in palatial country house

Scheduling error led to early return to base prior to SWMBO's arrival so vehicle was swapped for motorcycle
Decided on unscheduled visits to outlying posts

Arrived at post 14 ('Squirrel Hole') to find agent Squirrel on tea break and washing motorcycles, spent time discussing the following ops:
House extension - going well
Bike sale - reluctant but necessary
under-utilisation of hard luggage - sad
new staff motorcycle - very nice

Upon departure made snap decision to investigate route to Cowbridge and came up behind a GSXR and leather clad rider. Proceeded to spank GSXR for several miles until the humiliated sportsbiker turned off.

Sunday spent cleaning works vehicle and then watching all the BBC Motogp coverage. Good work Stoner, good work Lorenzo, hurrah Simoncelli, boo Pedrosa

I had a strangely dissatisfying weekend.  Managed to watch a Russian Sci-Fi WW2 movie in subtitles which child No 2 enjoyed enormously and playing him at one of his favourite Xbox games in which I was slaughtered to the extent I dreamt about it.

I then spent Sunday scrubbing away at the damp and mouldy wall in the kitchen and found that is was far worse than I had thought.  I suspect a leak in the bathroom.  Bugger.  Then realised that I had failed to buy or defreeze a suitable beast for Sunday Dinner so ended up eating haggis.

Perhaps some Guinness will cheer me up a bit.

Nothing bikey whatsoever.  Seeing and hearing all the plastic missiles and Harleys going up and down the road outside the house doesn't really help.

Weekend has been all bikey, but no riding involved.

As No1 mentioned, Saturday was washing day. Two bikes to clean, one for fun and one for work. Most of my effort was spent getting the XT ready for sale, but I did give Amber a going over just to get to know her. Rest of the day is spent watching rugby, getting depressed by Englands result but cheered up by Wales losing.

Today I checked and set the preload on the new bike, moved the windshield up one setting, covered all the fixings I could find with ACF50 and fitted the Lubeman. Also changed the oil and filter in the XT and posted her on fleabay.

Planned on watching the MotoGP, but according to my telly, it's not on till midnight.

Here in Wales the BBC decided that BBC2 would screen 'Scrum V' instead of the live GP so I used the Freeview box to select England BBC2 and watched the GP. However you also could have watched it using the red button or online.

As for regional BBC variations, don't forget that BBC Northern Ireland covers most of the major NI road races so it's worth checking the schedules on the weekends of the NorthWest, Ulster, Tandragee, etc. All easy-peesy on a freeview box.

Up early Saturday to fettle the front bodywork of the Tenere and replace a missing washer that was causing a buzz.
Admire friends new 911.
Go to Howdens kitchen shopping.
Assemble new chimenia in afternoon and then make burgers to consume on bbq that was had in said chimenia in the evening.

Sunday up a little later, full cooked breakfast and pot of yorkshire tea as is the habit.
G/f's folks meet us whilst we do a bit of grocery shopping, then I persuade and cajole g/f into taking her bike for a ride as she's not ridden since last August. We do about 40 miles potching about lanes and larger roads, she does very well.
Back home and dig over the veg patch again, sow chitting spuds and beetroot.
Take a closer look at SB#3's sticky kickstart shaft, manage to free off sticking pawl. Much rejoicing as it means I don't have to split the engine. Take photo of bike with cross screen filter.

List of parts is getting less and things are happening with it. Fingers crossed and all that.
Settle down to a fine tea of roast chicken, veg and a pint of home made rhubarb wine.

Similar story here. Changed the gearbox oil in the MZ, discovered my newly bought sidestand won't fit as my final model year 301 has a different brake linkage (I won't be fitting the older one off the spare bike until after the MOT), gave both solo's a good wash and ordered £200-worth of tyres and tubes (should be about 18-months worth, but a bit of a PITA when the whole idea of more than one bike is to be able to ride one while the other gets the required TLC).
