Weekend removal of underwear (De-brief)!

'Sally' and the 'Boy' given the 'once-over' and fired up yesterday, after a liesurely visit to the local farmer's market and luncheon of venison pie, home made carrot cup cake washed down with a 'brew'. Evening feast of spaghetti and fungi sauce, with a mixed salad all tossed in black pepper, salt, fresh lemon juice and Palestinian olive oil from FairTrade. Absoloutely BONZA!

Further motorcycle prep work today, after 'inspecting' my neighbours new box profile shed roof with sheep's wool insulation underneath. 'Roland' should find it good for nesting material! 

Sally came out to play on bone dry roads, with a few potholes and skittery sandy bits up the centre and down the sides. Tyres took a wee while to warm, but had a lovely wee canter through the back roads and then a hot cocoa at our local 'H' dealer, brisk trade reported, but may go ballistic after the Scottish Bike Show next weekend at Ingilston. Temperature dropping all day, so chopped some 5 year seasoned oak firewood, got the stove on the go and started putting 'stuff' on Fleabay. Spring cleaning! 

Nice to get out on two wheels again for a canter. Bit of heat on the back wouldn't go amiss, but beggars can't be choosers. Now for some Duke building  , that would be nice!

Not much bikey stuff to report and no van action as the poor old bus is in being welded for the MOT.

I dragged the ER5 out today to take photos for Ebay and listed the bike this afternoon. When it goes I will be bike-less again, but needs must and all that 

I really should be getting on with my XBR sidecar outfit rebuild

Nothing bikey at all! All weekend (and today) spent fitting worktops, creating breakfast island & installing appliances.

Heyho. End in sight, just one more big push, and to wash up in a proper sink...

More visiting mates in using the plastic rocket ship on saturday.

The car has been wanting a bit of a fettle for a few weeks.  A bit sluggish, and slightly reluctant to start. So on sunday the dizzy cap was cleaned up, rotor arm (I love old-tech!!) Then i checked the plugs- white!!   Ok then, more investigation.  Ah!  Slight air leak from a hose on the carb.  Bodge-bodge, screwy-tighten, bingo!  Much happier.

Onto the sticky rear brake on the DR.  That was less satisfying!

Work all weekend !
But did have a few moments to see if 955 Tiger wheel will fit Bonnie.......yes it will with a small........very small spacer to be made up !
And clean up front caliper.....will go in then with a little fettling !

New bike lift arrived on Thurs, but I was in London, so it had to wait until Mr M and his Jumbo Junior turned up to give me a hand to get it in the shed. For 14 that boy is strong - thanks Ol!

Anyway afternoon then progressed  changed the dodgy, engine slapping sidestand for another - fork seals on Guzzi changed yesterday with eldest boy. Looks like they changed the fluid but not the seals. Needs a new set of tyres before I put it back together and I guess I may as well fit the K&Ns as well.

Apart from that nothing much to report. Hung out with my boys drank Guiness and Whiskey and watched a couple of flicks

Worked Saturday, Sunday off (whooo!  )
No bikey stuff but did one step forward one step back on the cycle tourer build 

Seeing the signs of spring though, soon I'll have to find time to break out the MZ and actually ride it!

What frame and kit are you using for the Cycle touring set up Smudge? 
I am now without a tourer, other than the recumbent trike, and miss it greatly. Had Thorn Nomads, Koga Miyata, Super Galaxies and all sorts in my quest to make sure I sell things at a loss    

Thinking now about doing the ultimate in basic Adventure tourers and using an old basic steel Pashley frame and forks, the sort of thing I could get welded in the middle of Nowheresville Africa if it broke, and using good quality drivetrain and brakes on that.

It is a nice old fashioned steel frame with braze ons for *everything*, better yet it takes 26" wheels and mountain bike components if you want (which are available everywhere and better yet, cheaper than road components (don't ask my why, that's for the rants section  )

So on mine, shimano bar end shifters, Dia-compe V-Brake compatable levers (£15 a pair new from eblag), V brakes from my previous frankentourer, (along with many other parts), Shimano Deore crank/derailleurs, mavic X517 rims on an ancient rear hub and a Hope front hub (another eblag bargain  ) "half and half" SPD pedals, sks mudguards, tor-tec racks, Brooks B17 saddle, airzound horn (the absolute business round town) erm... and other odds and sods 

tbh you can build them up however you fancy, even just doing a straight swap of all the bits from a mountain bike if you can get a bargain, they'll take v or canti brakes, masses of tyre clearance, also available to suit 700c wheels if you prefer and retailing at around £350 for the frame and forks they compare (very) favourably with other framesets and especially against buying a ready made which probably has components you don't want...

Can't wait to finish it and ride teh damned thing lol, the current hold up is that the bar end shifters and longer rear stays mean a standard gear cable isn't long enough so I'm waiting for a tandem one to arrive (drums fingers impatiently...)
