I'll speak with a man who has one!

Having spoken with a 750 owner who thought they were really good, the traded it in for a 900. That apparently was a positive leap and even better than the 750. However, I shall get an update and report back.

In the meantime have you Googled for a UK/German club?  ??? This is one I've selected: 'Super-Tenere International'

My regards, Bill.

Cheers for that, the site contained an interesting question from one owner, here's an edited version:

"last week i changed a few things on my super from '90
* left hand switch (2nd hand from a 92er)
(snip)
it all works great, except for my test ride....
now the high beams switch on when pulling the clutch lever
(snip)
i really could use some advice here!
has any one got an idea??"

I know I shouldn't laugh, but waaaaahhahahahahahahaha  :D :D :D :D :D

As it happens I've owned one for a year there are a few  points to watch out for  are worn out emulsion tubes (rough running & horrendous fuel consumption), welded front sprocket & nut, standard reg rectifiers are considered weak as are the fuel pumps . Oh and the twin disk set upon the front isnt brilliant but can be improved upon fairly easily other than that they're nice bike to ride  ;D
ps lights are a bit dodgey (found out after riding the bike home on an unlit road after buying it , I'd thought all the bulbs had blown ::) )unless you can find one with with halogen h4's again can be sorted with uprated bulbs and auxilliary lights

Cheers for that.

Is it (roughly) the same engine as the TRX/TDM? I know they have emulsion tube issues.

They are roughly the same, the TRX a bit rougher.

I fitted a TDM850 motor to mine when I owned one, straight forward as I remember it, only had to strip and swap some carb linkages.

The TRX has a longer mainshaft so the chain will clear the wider back wheel.

All engines vary in firing 180*, 270*, model that changed in different years, etc.
