HMMM , I know that GC
« on: December 12, 2010, 06:48:15 AM »
will pooh pooh this as stirring, but we had to cut short our intended run today down to 180klm from about 350klm due to heat. The day started well enough but by about 11ish it decidedly became uncomfortable with leathers and jeans and then the trip home was made in blast furnace crosswinds. This afternoon, we are running high 30's and hiding in the shade. It isn't even the hot weather yet like January or February.
Dehydration is a major problem and if it were not for several cafes out and about as well as hydration packs we would be limited to commuting. The dust levels are on the increase as are the bushfire dangers. As i even write this I am listening to the fire truck sirens howling past.

Ride on and rug up guys, or come over here. A nice medium could be Tassie or South Island NZ

Give me the snow and ice anytime. :)

Thinking of moving to Scotland as we haven't had a flake here in South West Wales. :(

Sounds good Kurt, but I'm happy here in Andalucia :) Those up north in the UK are suffering though ;)
Early Winter now, so daytime temps are down to 13 to 18 C, cool enough to wear proper protrective clothing.
In July /Aug we get up to 40C, occasional fires in the pine forests around us, usually put out by CanadAir water-bombing planes, fortunately hydration isn't a problem as bars are never more than 10kms apart  8).
Most common riding gear in summer: t-shirt, shorts, trainers, helmet optional.
We don't really see cops in the mountains where I live ;D  What are the traffic cops like in WA (m8 in Victoria hates 'em)?

Don't care  ;D Bike is tucked up snug in the garage*, new HF antenna is connected to the nice cosy shack in the house and I can sit in mycomfy chair in the warm comfort with a cold beer and a busy radio chatting with like minded geeks all over the place  8)

Bring on the Chrimble holidays and I can work on my CW and be even more of a spotter  :D

*ready for clear roads and pleasant breaks in the weather, don't *need* to ride in the rain and horribleness so I can pick and choose when to do it now (and when not to!)

Ah Smudge, there's the thing, in Andaluz we normally have around 30 days of heavy rain a year, so its no problem to use those days for essentail maintenance :)
