Too many people scared of the rev limiter. I have had the pleasure of sidecar gearing on a solo  since July though  ;D

Thing needs six gears so I can have sidecar gearing when I feel like it and keep the 60+ mpg when I don't.

Clearly riding mine with a clear disregard for fuel consumption Andy. I'll get a tad under 40mpg and don't mention this to Jethro. He's got shares in BP, the amount of fuel he's going through.  ;D
Agree with the need for extra gear, or go up a tooth on the front.
They are great through traffic and a good A or B road lets them romp.

60+MPG.......HOW THE FUCK !
Solo on my 790 used to manage 120mile before reserve and this 865 110mile then reserve.
Put a chair on it and its down to 80mile.
I suppose I do ride it with a little too much spirit so to speak.

I bet you've been messing with the exhaust and jetting? Stock exhaust, stock jetting, 1 extra tooth on the gearbox, nice bit of French N road and it turned in a steady 60-62 mpg.

I've also seen under 25 mpg on either the Dragon or one of the llanthony runs, which proves that running to reserve and having to buy petrol in poxy village garages is a bad idea.

Overall I think the Hinckley Bonnie is one of the most practical propositions around these days.
I agree with Andy mind, do the silencers and jets and you will reduce your fuel consumption dramatically. I have a K&N air filter which I have never fitted. One reason is that it is a fag trying to get the air filter in and out without chamfering the paint off the frame rail. 5mm to the left and it would be fine.
The other is the filter came with 128 main jets. Not funny. So never fitted and gathering dust.

I am still on the original chain & sprockets at nearly 13,000miles, though it is due for replacement and on third set of tyres.

Not bad motoring for nine years.

True.....have changed exhaust, jets and upped the gearing.
But I did manage to wear away the hero blobs on my footrests completely.
Bit of a pain having the footrest fold up when going around a corner ! ;)

I think I do ride with a little gusto on occasions.
