My memory is poor

I sloped around to a mate's house today to make use of his bead breaker and tyre levers. I am taking a job lot of XBR rear wheels to have their drums skimmed and one of these (spoked wheel with Akront rim and stainless spokes) still had a tyre fitted (which needed to come off before it could go to the engineer).

As we surveyed the rim we noticed a large scuffed area, but I commented that I can't remember falling off a bike with this wheel fitted. It got worse when he stripped off the tyre and then put the wheel in his wheel jig to see if it was true. It most certainly was not. I was perplexed.

About an hour later it finally dawned on me that this wheel was fitted when I hit a car head on at 30mph and the bike had been thrown 10 feet back in the direction we'd come from. I'd used the bike after that but had never noticed the throw in the rim  :o

It comes to something when you can't remember stuff like that.
