Years ago, insurers just didn't want bikers. Most shops were 'brokers' and enjoyed a 'heady' 7.5 % commission on premiums. Fast forward to today.... Insurance now cheaper than 20 yrs ago. Call back a firm 2 hours later and they will match your given quote, even if it's 50% less. It's all about 'body parts' nowadays. You are more likely to be involved in an injury claim, sadly, sometimes involving huge amounts of money, than many other groups compulsorily insured by law. Hence the fervent interest in us by the insurance industry. Hence the £££££cost of MCN advert spends. And the 'Carole Nash' bike show, etc etc. We have passed on from the alarm fitment blackmail, these human parasites now go directly for the big payoff.
Car bumps - a bit of whiplash. Bike bumps - compound fractures, loss of earnings, future disability, just add the £££noughts! Hit the 'punter' with monster theft excesses and save on the fraud claims bill, especially allied with the appointment of 'professional' loss adjusters, on £££performance related commission of course.
Come the pearly gates, I just wonder how many insurance industry workers will be admitted....
This is all without me getting on the great 'NO CLAIMS BONUS SCAM' - How can this be fair?
