XBR tank cover/ Seat cover

Hi Chaps
I'm a bit of a Newbie and currently own 2 XBR'S. Both need work and are not on the road yet, sadly.
What with work and wife commitments I've not done much but hoard all the spares I think I need to get them roadworthy.
I've asked questions of members in the past and had them answered rapidly and accurately.
I'm not a member of any other on line club as this one fits the bill nicely.
I would gladly pay a subscription and become a full member not to attend any functions or rideouts or receive a printed news letter but just to be able to ask a question from any one of the members whose wealth of bikers common sense and specialist knowledge I can draw on when I'm stuck.
I've only been visiting the site since November last year at Simmo's recommendation, I do log on every day to see whats happening and what parts are for sale.
Thanks to every body involved in the running of the Club and long may it continue.

Now  1) Does anybody know if a tank cover is available for the XBR or has anybody had one made?
        2) Has anybody tried to fit a standard replacement seat cover and made a good job of it or is it better to take it to the shop?

I have never seen a tank cover for an xbr- are you hiding something?    

I have never fitted a seat cover but i suppose if you have theknack they can look ok/ good

You don't need to pay anything- you've joined already!! If you need any xbr bits- let me know

Hi Andy

Try contacting Baglux for a tank cover. They don't list the XBR in their catalogue but they might be able to sort something out for you. I've heard of them doing specials for people, it won't be cheap, mind. Let's know if you get anywhere with it.

I've never done an XBR seat cover but mine's starting to split too. From past experience, pattern seat covers are a bit hit-and-miss, particularly if there's any kind of shaping to the foam. If we use them at work we tend to pass them over to a bloke in the local chopper club who fits them for us. They usually require a bit of modification - stitching etc, and you need a fairly hefty stapler to get into the plastic base.

I'm with you on the membership thing. I'm fairly peripheral as club members go, I've not made it to any meets yet, but I've got a lot out out of the website over the past few years and I wouldn't object to sticking my hand in my pocket if subs were required.

I'm going to call Viking near Brands Hatch to find out how much for a seat recover (I've 2 that need doing!)
One of my customers revealed to me on Wednesday that she used to be a seamstress and can work with vinyl /leather.
I bought that pile of XBR c**p on e**y last week just for the petrol tank and grab handles! when I checked the tank it has been repaired with filler under the front right side and my finger went easily through the left front side!
However I can take this to her and she is willing to cut a pattern from it. I was going to borrow a Bagalux style cover so that she knows what one looks like. (no promises but worth a try)
She's not around for a couple of weeks but I will let you know how it goes.
