XBR choke cable?
« on: April 21, 2010, 06:09:25 PM »
Hi again XBR techno heads! my choke cable is playing up after a hard long winter, though now this fine weather and ash has dried all out, has become stiff and causes the bike to over rev as the cable is reluctant to return.I think this is the problem. My main question is after oiling the top cable and freeing it up a bit, i have never seen a cable go straight into the side of the carb.I can see a 12mm nut on top but how do you disconnect the cable in the carb and re fit it? looks very fiddly.  :-\  Is Evil-bay the best place to get a choke cable? :-\

                                                                 Thanks all, Pete.

The fitting on the carb is a black plastic screw-in ferrule type thing. Unscrew it and the choke cable should just pull out. There's a needle valve type of thingy that'll pull out attached to the end of the cable. Take that off and take the black ferrule off the cable, it's held on with a little spring clip. You don't get either of these bits with a replacement cable.

I recently bought a cheap choke cable off Ebay. The nipple thingy fell off the end before I'd even finished fitting it. You get what you pay for I suppose  ::)
