Aye g80cs,

Try this URL: Color-rite

I think you may just have to trawl the list as specific reference to 'Yamaha Titanium Grey' produces a 'No result'!  ???

Go and find some colour cards first, or have a look through this site using the 'Search' button above, top right.

Another alternative may be SteveH' site at: SRX600

I like the sound of the machine you use for your 'handle'. May I ask if you have one and if so would you post an image?  ;D

Welcome to the site for  ??? ::) ;D ??? :-X people!

Bill.

Hi Bill, I have a common or garden G80 in CS guise - would dearly love a CS but most now with 'investors'. It is still my favourite bike by far though, and my Honda XR600 and SRX-6 are rarely used. This is not rose-tinted romance but objectivity - I recently rode the Matchless round the country roads of Hampshire and the handling and effortless torque were perfect. I then took the XR (twice the horsepower, 280 lbs, 4 valve head etc.) round the same circuit and got half a mile before thinking "This is f... 'orrible!" The XR is known as a 'stump puller' for torque - these people don't know what they're missing. I also have a DR400S Suzuki nearing completion (fitted with front forks and disc off a RM motocrosser) and am starting to rebuild the Yamaha IT465 which I bought from Fowlers in'84. I also have a 1967 BSA Victor Enduro in boxes, but that is a long-term project.

Aye Rob,

I agree with you about the G80CS and I think you'll enjoy this site: G85CS

Used to have a '53 AJS 18S as my sole form of transport, it's still about according to the DVLA records. Went from the sublime to the gor' blimey when I sold it and bought a Duke 450 to do the same job in '76! ::) ::) Still have the Duke. Different beast with not the same 'plonk' as the AJS.

SRX6 is regular bit of kit these days and whilst it can move along nicely, because it is 'short stroke' will never achieve the same 'plonk' as the AJS. Also the aircooled single with a single spine frame is much better to 'get at'  :-X  The lingo is not pleasant when trying to adjust the tappets or remove the plug on an SRX. ??? Beam alloy frames are just the pits, in my opinion (shan't be humble about that one ;)

More snow overnight up here, but largely melted away by midday. Off to sort the tappets in the SRX.

My regards, Bill.

Hi Bill, the SRX is useful for long trips and makes a nice change from my other bikes due to riding position, decent lights and triple discs (I am 6ft 4 and catch the wind like a sail when upright) It struggles to get to 80 mph max and I suspect it needs a rebore - have you ever done a compression test on yours? I borrowed a SR500 and it cruised at an indicated 90 mph no problem, so I think it is also down to the humungous weight of the thing.
The Matchless has a big heavy flywheel which adds to the oomph, as well as the long stroke you mentioned. There seems to be no modern bike with this combination, apart from a Hardly Ableson, now that Buell has gone to the wall. The Hinckley Bonneville is an abortion when compared to an old T120 650 - a friend had one and it would wheelie in 1st and 2nd off the throttle. They were lighter than a Japanese 250 at the time, whereas the modern version is twice the weight of an R1 with half the power. I think the proper modern version is the 90bhp 400lb Aprilia 750. Your Ducati is worth more than all my bikes put together - I remember lusting after one after reading Bill Haylock test in Bike magazine. All the best, Rob

if you have the bike in its original grey you could do what i did, take it along to a GOOD auto paint distributer, they'll have a portable spectrum analyser, which they'll use to 'read' your paint....this data is bunged into a pc which produces a code...this code is used on the mixing machine, you'll end up with a good match....well I did anyway
