I think everyone will be fed up of me begging (stealing) or borrowing bits for my SRX conversion by now....Im probably over half way through it now and working every possible moment on it to get it finished for the new season....thanks for all help so far from all concerned.

Judging by the photo I'd say you've a way to go yet matey. As custom jobs go your brave use of MDF for a swing arm might well be 'ground breaking' but I do have reservations over ridgidity issues. ;D ;D

Self adhesive multistrand universal repair material is what's required. (That's Duck Tape to you)  ;D

You animal... what a primitive method, anyone would think you had never heard of 15mm plastic plumbing pipe.  ;D

On a related note - Simon M, is your sidestand still held on with that bodge job?

Simon arrived at my house prior to the Llanthony trip on a sidestandless bike as he'd posted it on ahead for my brother to get it shortened and modified. The only trouble was he hadn't realised that there was a 'top hat' spacer in the lug and this had fallen out somewhere on the M4 on the trip to my house. I was lucky in having some of the aforementioned plastic tubing and some washers that did the job of spacing out the lug's diameter and width. The last time I saw the bike the bodge was still in place and the stand worked well enough... however, who on earth would risk such a bodge on a long trip to Austria eh?  :D

I have taken a quick look over the "running repair" and it seems fine. Will probably get around to sorting it properly at some point. Likely to be after the Dragon now.

Hi #1, Happy New Year....I have finally got back into the BSA DR after doing some mods to the Guzzi and fitting a long needed big disc and 4 pot to the Sportster, both on SORN's so testing can wait.
I've stripped the wheels for new rims, 18" rear 19" front and spokes at ridiculous cost, made two original type headlight mounts to fit the GS 1000 forks, from parts collected at Stafford and am now up to rear indicator mounts and painting some of the finished parts, but progress is slow as Sundays are for riding.....by the way I went over to Pete's Eats on Sunday for a ride and was surprised at the lack of snow at Llanberis, but crossing the Denbigh moors there were 6' drifts in places and patches of ice to contend with.....at least it keeps you focused.

I thought you would show my new project. Its a 1955 Sunbeam S8. So this is my winter and summer and maybe next winter project.
I always likes these but like the S7 with the fat tyres more, These have some quiet clever features considering its age. Overhead camshaft, The engine is hung from a point of balance and the  held from moving with rubber pads so its fully floating, Shaft drive, Not a bit of rust and still has its original pantwork.

It seems that after taking the best ideas from captured BMW's during the war they attempted to use the best bits but thought they could improve on the engine, It was a quest for perfection with money not being
an issue.
