New bag bought, old one for sale
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:50:46 PM »
I bought a new sleeping bag last Thursday to replace my warm but bulky 80s Vango. The new one packs down to about half the size of the old one and is possibly even warmer.

Vango on left, new bag on right

Anyway, the old bag is on on Ebay (See HERE) with a 99p start price if anyone is interested. I'd compare it in warmth (and size) to an army bag.

The new bag is a Mountain Hardwear Lamina 0 and it's luurvely  :) it has an EN T-limit rating (comfortable temp rating for a standard male) of -12.

This is all part of my campaign to simplify my life. Now I can sell off two or three of my other bags and just use this one, it's warm enough for the Dragon, but only the same pack size as my 2-season bag.

In another bid to simplify my camping experience I bought a little compartment storage box today for all my camping cooking ingredients, lighters, matches and cutlery, in an attempt to not have endless little plastic boxes and bags to pack away at the end of every trip.

The film cannister contains oregano (of course)  ::) :)

It will be fine, they're all good these days (up to a point). A fleece bag liner will push up the comfort rating and they are so thin you can leave them in the bag when putting back into the stuff sack.

Very nice, though having looked at the price I hope you got a discount !

If it gets really cold then add an inner, and ilf really silly put it in a bivvy bag.

My Army bags really are too bulky for the bike and as for hiking with one.............there is no room left in the rucksack.

Ticket price said £120, salesman said £100 and the devil said "BUY IT!"  ;)

Now all I have to do is work out how to get it past Mrs Onepot.

Tell her it's a pillow to go with your old sleeping bag!

Bollocks, I got grassed up by my neighbours  ::)

She took it pretty well, but I suspect there's a round two to follow when she's had a little think about it...

Aye Smudge,

AND? Essential bit of kit for your sanity! :) Can't get my head round all this secrecy!  ???

Mice gnawed through gear oil bottle, drained through ceiling and onto books, manuals etc! >:( Big bonfire, 6 new mouse traps, and 2 dead by 20:00hrs pm tonight. C'est la vie!  ??? Selling a lot of ephemera, like John to de-clutter the mind and life. ;D

Cheerie, cheerie, Bill.
