Non-Thumper - Gurkhas
« on: April 29, 2009, 02:05:44 PM »
Hi All

Our lovely leaders have decided to stick two fingers up to these people.  I understand the arguments that a Gurkha pension is worth so much more in Nepal etc etc etc, but in my book any one willing to serve and die for us should be allowed to live here when they retire.

If you agree - sign up HERE

If you do not - I am sorry to have troubled you.

Splendid news !

Over the years these chaps have served Great Britain well and earned the respect of friend and foe alike .We as a nation owe them a great debt , which until now we have failed to repay in the most shoddy of fashions.
Lets hope we finally do it properly .

Rob .

Thank God we have some Labour MP's left with a little backbone that are prepared to stand up against the nauseating hypocrisy of useless bunch of self serving prats!

My moto - 'say it as it is' - so there!

Now, where's the rant board  ;D

The first pat on the back goes to Nick Clegg for raising it initially in prime ministers question time a year ago.

Maybe the rebelling (against the 3 line whip) labour back benchers will go the whole hog and cross the floor to join the swelling ranks of the most pertinent and in touch political party in government? Lets face it, when it comes to the recession, who do we always see on the telly, none other than Vince Cable. When it comes to caring for people that are abandoned by the country they have served and died for Nick stepped upto the mark and helped.

Roll-on the MPs expenses vote tomorrow...

Brown was whining on about this costing the tax payer £1.5B - not sure if that is per year or what, but it assumes that all ex Gurkhas will take up the option.  And it is £60 per tax payer per annum.

He lost the vote - is he now obliged to act, or can he wiggle out of it more?

Oddly enough the OZ prime minister has been "bullied" into recognoising the great work the Fuzzy Wuzzies did for the oz troops in WW11 in New Guinea against all odds transfering the sick and wounded for miles through the jungles. The previous successive govts have all errr ummed about it, but now OZ looks like compensating the surviving litter bearers/guides a fantastic new MEDAL.... presumably it will be made of a high protein material that they will be able to suck on for a few years for nutritional benefits.....
