I'd have them but they're a bit steep for my wallet at the moment (we've just had a brand new baby so bikey activities have taken a back step).

These wheels came of an 89 XBR, the guy now selling them took them off the XBR and replaced them with a ratty set of Comstars. The 89 XBR complete with Comstars recently sold on eBay for a tidy sum. More than he paid for it.

The guy selling the spoked wheels bought the above XBR from a very nice man in York who specialises (or did) in XBR's and GB's. I recently bought a brand new Supertrap system for my XBR from the chap in York and we discussed these very wheels. He informed me that the only usable part of these wheels were the hubs, which also need TLC, hence requiring a full wheel rebuild. From what I understand the rear hub has ovalised on the braking surface. Buyer beware!

Frankly £200.00 is taking the proverbial as it would probably cost that again top make a set of decent wheels.

Incidentally I offered the seller £150.00 for these wheels some weeks back which he turned down, greed seems to be the motive?

If the hub is oval they might as well be scrap  I've got an old set of spokes in the garage and comstars on the outfit for precisely that reason...

200 quid, he's having a laugh. i bought my dr big wheels for 300, and those came with a frame an engine, suspension, bodywork and wiring between them

If they were in good condition they would easily be worth the money. Just getting some hubs spoked to new rims to suit (if you could find hubs that would fit without major work, which you can't) would cost over £300.

However, in this case, agreed, it's a rip-off.

I think I'll mail the seller and ask if the rear drum is oval

Here's the reply from the seller:
"HI THERE,THE BRAKE DRUM IS OVAL.ALTHOUGH CAN BE FIXED BUT IS EXPENSIVE.THANKS STEVE"

I did notice though that he didn't choose to add the question and answer to the auction details

I see that bidding has now finished on the auction.  I wonder if someone bought them or if he pulled the auction.    Someone's going to be dissappointed if they've bought them!

If the chap in York was Tony in Haxby, then he's also the man who restored my GB after it had spent a year in Graham's garage being used as a grow-bag. If he sold the XBR with knackered wheels, you can be sure that he told the guy, and it was reflected in the price.

Richard, you are correct it was Tony in Haxby and yes he did yell the guy that the drum was ovalised. However this was not reflected in the price the eBayer was asking or mentioned in his description of the article despite being fully aware of the situation as was proven by Graham.

He does state in the listing that the wheels are 'for reburbishment', whatever that means. It's strange though, that he's also listing a complete XBR with comstars and he specifically mentions the oval rear hub in the listing.

I notice he has a no-returns policy as well. Glad I didn't buy them (not that I'd entertain spending £200 on them anyway).

But....
please correct me if I'm wrong, but Supertrapp never made a system for the XBR, only for the GB 500, and that won't fit the XBR as the central stand is in the way.
(if it won't fit and You'll like to sell it please let me know )

I can't see the centre stand as being an issue as it sits in exactly the same spot on both bikes. The only difference is that the GB lower frame rails are wider apart so if you use the system on an XBR then you may have trouble with the mid-system mounting point (if there is one, there isn't one at all on the Micron XBR exhaust).

Apart from that, the mounting points at the head and footrest hanger are in exactly the same relation to each other on both bikes.

Of course I could be completley wrong about some or all of this
