Predator exhaust system

Has anybody got the predator exhaust system on their XBR?
If so are there any photographs that could be posted for a view?
Or are there any photos in the archive?

There are some piccies if you look... my sidecar outfit has a Predator. Great system for the money, mine was second hand when I got it, but it has survived two elefant rallies and god knows how many miles since then.

The kink under the engine is (apparently) to get teh correct pipe length for back pressure.

Graham,

I dont know what the Predator system actually looks like so trying to find it amongst the galleries is somewhat challenging!

Could you point me in the direction of the relevant gallery or send me a piccie of your outfit with the system fitted?

Regards,

Andy

A nice big photo of the predator system .
I personally prefer the original system twin exhaust system .
I think it lets the engine breath better and sounds better !

You are right the original pipes look much better. Only problem is that when I purchased the XBR it came with a black Micron pipe like Brian Hull's bike.

Having seen the Predator system I see what Graham means, it's not exactly pretty is it?

Are there any other exhaust solutions out there readilly available?

I asked the Micron guys at the NEC what it would cost to build a new one to the original patterns in stainless steel - £2000.00 plus they said! Didn't know whether to laugh or vomit!

Incidentally, looking at the pic's of Brian Hull's bike, where did that superb looking full fairing come from and is it something still available? I doubt it but worth asking anyway.

Could always give them a ring here, nice exhausts, but not cheap, certainly cheaper than £2,000 though   http://www.gazbike.demon.co.uk/   based in mid Wales.

Not sure what Brian's fairing is ,but power bronze still make fairings for the XBR :)

As for the exhaust try David silver ,
I was quoted £95.00 for each part ( 4 parts early Xbr ) about a year ago ,for the original parts

I've been looking at making some down pipes and fitting some cheep / old Brit style silencers .
Just lacking the time at the moment :(

I've got a predator on my XBR. You're right, it looks like a pile of old scaffolding. It was on it when I got it though so its staying. It's supposed to be road legal but I had to stick a baffle in it to get it through the MOT. The previous owner obviously never had this problem as there were no signs of one having been removed.  Is my MOT bloke being a fascist or has anyone else had to add a baffle to one of these? Its a wee bit quieter now but it doesn't sound so nice.

Previous owner might of modded it ?
As they sound rubbish compared to the original twin silencers with the baffles rusted out !
Baffles are only for MOT's  :)

I've got a predator on one of mine ,
had to refit air box and put the main jet back to standard to get it to run .

Thanks to all for the information.

The Powerbronze fairing looks like the one in the photo of Brian's bike.

I think I will live with the Micron system for the time being while I consider the options.

Re: noisy Predator systems, as far as I can see on their site there are two variants, one road leagal and one track use only. Perhaps the noisy one is 'track use only'?

Options are:
Standard system from Dave Silver - around £250 last time I looked (with P&P)
Micron - yeuch!
Gazelle - Stainless steel 2-2 for around £400 (I think that's the cost, it might be worth checking)
Predator - £290
Dave Silver used to list a Jama 2-2, but I don't knwo if it's still available.

The Predator is ok to look at and it is well made.

I have to aggree, the predator is very well made. The one I have is the road legal model so I can only assume its was previously modded in some way. It sounds nice without the baffle but its just a bit too loud and the North Wales police are mad keen on bikes at the moment so its staying in at least for now. Just out of interest, does anybody have an idea what the modifications may be? Appearance wise, nothing stands out but then I don't know what I'm looking for.

Given the choice and a few spare quid, I'd definitely opt for the standard pipes for looks.

Cheers
Dave
