New Rant Board
« on: March 05, 2009, 09:13:40 PM »
I have created a new board for posts that in my opinion have turned into rants ,that are so far removed from the original topic that they need seperating from it.

In general does anyone have any objections to this approach, and if you do object how do you feel the forum should be moderated, if at all ?

From a personal point of view, to date the members of this forum all seem to have a mutual respect for each other, and conversations in general do not end up as a mud-slinging contest. If this is to continue then I beleive some form of moderation is necessary.

If however the concensus is that moderation is not required, I will leave it well alone. Your forum your choice.

If you do not wish to respond directly to the thread then please PM me.

This is a genuine question to all, please try and make your responses to the point, and avoid any personal attacks on either myself or any other members of the club.

From a purely practical point of view the separation of 'off topic' posts cleans up the original thread making it easier to read. However, there has to be a distinction between thread drift (a thing of occasionally surreal joy) and real digression.

I think your moderation has always been good, even down to the level of monitoring threads and placing them on different forums if required. Hence a recommendation of a supplier in the 'Chatter' section gets picked up and moved to the 'Recommended Services' forum. This is good housekeeping and without it the forums would be less useful.

As I've said before the moderator has to be respected even if we sometimes disagree with the decision they make. It's the only way to keep the forums running well. I think you're doing a good job and it should continue 'as is'.

Jules you seemed to have missed this bit of my posting. I dont think its an unreasonable request. But bearing in mind your response quite eloquently demonstrates my original point I'll leave it place
