Weekend Debrief
« on: February 23, 2009, 07:18:05 PM »
I had a family weekend, spent at the Bristol home of some good friends. They treated us very well. On Saturday we all went off to Sandy Point near Weston Super Mare to give the kids a runabout on a pebble beach: picnic lunch, rock pool investigating, rock-climbing and much throwing of stones. We enjoyed it nearly as much the kids did.

Sunday morning saw us all trudging off to Whiteladies Road for a big fry-up, eaten in the sun at some outside tables (is it still February?). When we returned to the house I saw a nice Panther/Steib sidecar outfit parked up the road. It beongs to a neighbour and they said "he's a bit eccentirc, but very nice" which perfectly describes Panther owners, IMHO.

Shorlty after my return home a proud-looking Pat turned up on his new VX800. We had a chinwag over coffee whilst I tried to rein in my jealousy over his new wheels.

Last night I sloped off to the pub with BJ (whom some of you met at the Dragon), to talk bollocks about motorbikes.

A grand weekend.

'Tis true, you can usually cadge a free cuppa at Carrick towers  ;D

Saturday spent on domestic duties, mainly re-plastering #2 sons bedroom wall!
Sunday was dedicated to tinkering with my new love interest. Out came the T-cut, wax polish, Autosol and a fine array of cloths/tooth brushes and cotton buds. Always like to do a 'proper' clean of a new bike. It means you get to look closely at all the bits you missed when you bought it (like the wrong type/size rear foot rest!) I've gathered a mental list of things to do, starting with a major service. There is plenty of evidence that the shop I got her from has done what it claimed to have done, but if I do it all myself then I know it's done right.
All done and a fine afternoon begged a ride, so yes, I headed for a like minded male with a kettle. GC! ;D After I left, I found myself in Chepstow to see if my brother-in-law fancied a nosey around Sophia. Sadly he was out so I was forced to ride home through the back roads. Tough life ::)

First weekend off since october, Went to the IOM with SWMBO stayed in the Sefton ****Hotel on  the prom.
Showed swmbo the island and all its glory, good food, good drink etc.
Even in feb the island was full of bikes, mostly locals.
Spent the time looking for celtic/viking crosses and ancient prehistoric monuments. Only problem was I took the car, after all it was Swmbo christmas present!

Weekend spent breaking up concrete and digging hole for a LPG tank at a friends pub ( I use the term lightly!) they have just bought an old wreck of a pub in a village near Knighton in Powys and are doing it up on a very limited budget. Should be good when they finish it though.

Family away most of last week so peace and tidiness reigned.  ;D Also it meant that I wasn't compelled to take the people wagon everywhere and could pootle about on the bike. Having adjusted the very tight exhaust valve a week ago the black beast now starts, if not with alacrity then with more certainty and went nicely all weekend. Friday was all work on the dreaded document that dare not speak its name. Friday evening my mate Keith came over for a curry and more beer than is really sensible unless you're a Scot. Saturday breakfast at the local greasy spoon and awaited return of tribe while nursing beer carnaged noggin.

Sunday was the usual drill apart from taking #1 son down the shed to help me refit the MZ's Keenan special engine.

BTW Smudge - I would like to miss the UK.  ;)
