XT 600 spark plug spanner
« on: November 29, 2008, 12:58:21 PM »

I thought I had this sussed.  I was wrong as the Box Spanner won't sneak past the frame tube.  What do others use ?  Its a ruddy odd size plug as well.

i use the box spanner that came with the srx6, it's long enough to reach the plug (with a rubber ring inside to grip the plug) but short enough to fiddle past the frame.....but in all honesty...i usually have the tank off and check the tappets and stuff like that when i'm doing the plug...and i'm always concious of the fact that a lot of crud gathers round the plug and is just waiting to fall throught the hole when the plug comes out, so i try and blow that out first....not easy without removing the tank.

You want to try getting the plug out of an XBR on an autobahn in January, with 1,500 miles of road crud and salt in the hole. Gives me the creeps everytime I remember it.

Hint.   I replaced my Spark plug in the MuZ with a NGK IRIDIUM type. Costs a bit more, but its cured the time to go on reserve whisker blues.
